The facility was purchased in 2014, previously operated as a bakery. After sitting vacant for several years, a hemp processing license was obtained, and the site is now registered with the State of Illinois Department of Agriculture. Operations focus on extracting oil from hemp plants, then sending that oil to manufacturers for various products, including CBD. No marijuana is involved; both the hemp and the extracted oil remain under the legal THC limit of 0.3%.
Over $9M has been invested, divided into:
• $3M – Land & Building (including improvements)
• $3M – Equipment (installed new between 2019–2020)
• $3M – Working Capital (including raw materials for production)
Real estate, equipment, and intellectual property are owned outright with no encumbrances. Since July 2020, the facility has processed approximately 342,761 lbs. of hemp, resulting in around 13,364 liters of WD crude and 7,000 liters of distillate at an average of 80% potency. At peak operation, the plant produced 4–5 (55-gallon) drums of distillate per month, roughly half its estimated capacity of 8–10 drums monthly.
Located in the DuQuoin Industrial Park, adjacent to HWY 51, and approximately 30 miles south of Interstate 64
and 15 miles west of Interstate 57.
